What the client wanted: founded by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809, the Père Lachaise cemetery is the biggest in the city of Paris and one of the most famous anywhere in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The special nature of the place, and the feelings it inspires, are evident not least in the care given to its extensive green spaces, which form a significant part of the city’s green heritage. Accordingly, the Municipality of Paris needed a centralized and remotely controllable system that would address the watering requirements of different areas around the grounds, rationally and efficiently.

The Clabermeteo solution: the Meteolab Watering System proved to be the solution best suited to the purpose, given the different needs of the single plants and their exposure to sunlight, and the permeability of the soil. Meteolab technology will give precision control over each single valve of the system, guaranteeing that just the right amount of water is delivered, with no waste. 17 Meteolab programmers were installed at 9 different locations, controlling around 200 valves. Using special interfaces and communication systems, the Municipality’s city manager can program watering schedules remotely, working direct from his or her PC, as well as receiving detailed reports on the activity and operating status of the system.

The advantages:

  • Versatile watering system
  • Easy and intuitive programming
  • Ultra-low running costs
  • Savings on water usage
  • Less time spent on maintenance
  • self-diagnosis of possible electrical system faults
